Jade Alexandria Harris wins multiple collegiate service awards

Jade Alexandria Harris of Gilbert, SC, is the recipient of multiple service awards from Spartanburg Methodist College (SMC).

Harris, a sophomore, received the awards during a ceremony held on SMC's campus April 20 where she was selected by college faculty to receive the Achievement Award in Service for significant participation in service activities sponsored by the college. During the 2016-2017 academic year, Harris served as president of Kappa Sigma Alpha, the college's service fraternity.

She received the American Legion Award, given to graduating sophomores who display qualities of honor, courage, scholarship, leadership, service and character.

Harris also received the Thomas R. Bailey Humanitarian Award, named for the first president of Kappa Sigma Alpha and given to a student who has exhibited outstanding service to humanity through their dedication to KSA service projects.

On May 6, Harris participated in the college's Commencement Exercises, where she received an Associate Degree in Arts.
