SMC students inducted into scholastic honor society

On April 4, 2017, 18 Spartanburg Methodist College students were inducted into Phi Theta Kappa, the national scholastic honor society for students at two-year colleges. Membership in Phi Theta Kappa requires an overall GPA of 3.5 or higher with a minimum of 16 academic hours. Students must be of good moral character and possess recognized good qualities of citizenship.

SMC students inducted into Psychology honor society

On April 4, 2017, 29 Spartanburg Methodist College students were inducted into Psi Beta, the national Psychology honor society for students at two-year colleges. Membership in Psi Beta requires an overall GPA of 3.25, completion of 12 academic hours with a B average in Psychology 101 and/or Psychology 201 and a high standard of personal behavior and integrity is required.

SMC students inducted into English honor society

On April 4, 2017, 19 Spartanburg Methodist College students were inducted into Sigma Kappa Delta, the national English honor society for students at two-year colleges. Membership in Sigma Kappa Delta requires an overall G.P.A. of 3.3 with a B average in a minimum of one college course in English or literature.

Madison Morehead Spearheads Campus Awareness Event

Sophomore Madison Morehead of Spartanburg successfully organized and produced an event to raise awareness of human trafficking. "27 Has a Name" included student performances in drama and dance, a photography exhibit and guest speakers. Held on February 27 on SMC's campus, the event generated positive news coverage for the college and successfully informed audiences of the scourge that is human trafficking.
