USC Sumter congratulates the students who were named to the Spring 2019 Dean's List.

Clemson University has announced the Dean's List for the spring 2019 semester.

The following students completed courses with exemplary marks and made the 2019 spring President's List at Georgia College in Milledgeville, Ga.

Dr. Steve Dorman, president of Georgia College, has awarded degrees to the graduating class of May 2019.

Dr. Mark Gibbs, Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, is pleased to announce the students included on the President's List for grades earned during the spring 2019 academic semester. President's List students have achieved a grade point average of 3.8 or higher.

Coastal Carolina University graduates are exactly what the world needs, according to commencement speaker and doctoral candidate Leigha Peterson. Peterson addressed the graduating class of 2019 - more than 1,200 students - during three separate commencement ceremonies at the HTC Student Recreation and Convocation Center May 10-11. "Whatever you are, put it out there," she said, "because it is better than good enough. It is exactly what the world needs!"

Vice President for Academic Affairs Joe Donofrio, D.C., A.C.P., is pleased to announce the students included on Sherman College's Dean's List for grades earned during the winter 2019 academic quarter. Dean's List students have achieved a grade point average of at least 3.5 for the quarter.

On May 4, 2019 Spartanburg Methodist College celebrated the graduation of the 2019 class. The ceremony was held at Sparrow Hall Plaza on SMC's campus.

This award goes to an SMC student with outstanding musical talents.

This award is given annually to an outstanding student in music. The recipient is determined by the faculty who teach music courses.

The Who's Who Among Students Award at Spartanburg Methodist College is an honor that goes to a few select students who have earned at least 24 credit hours, have a GPA of 3.5 or above, and have shown continued involvement and commitment to Spartanburg Methodist College.

This award is given to male and female RA who, through their leadership position, supported the mission of Residence Life by promoting educational communities and engaging a diverse student body in learning, leadership and personal development by providing a comfortable and safe living environment that is conducive to academic success. The criteria by which the recipient is chosen include: Outstanding service to Residence Life and to SMC through programming efforts, work ethic and campus visibility. Recipients must display dependability, compassion and dedication to the SMC community.

This award is given annually to an outstanding student who has completed at least two religion courses with superior grades. The recipient is determined by the faculty who teach religious courses.

This award is given to a Computer Science Major with plans to continue studies in this field. The recipient must have completed and maintained a 3.5 GPA or higher in all Computer Science courses completed at SMC and must have demonstrated leadership abilities through campus and community services and maintained a good rapport with fellow-students and the SMC community.

This award is given to the member of the POPS Programming Board who exemplifies leadership, commitment and service to the organization and who understands and works to promote the value of programming for the campus at large. The award is named after Jessica Williams and Tavy Garcia, two of the original officers of the POPS Programming Board who were instrumental in its early success and legacy.

The Travis Eiler General Excellence Award is given to a graduating sophomore on the basis of citizenship, character, scholarship and athletic ability.

This award is given annually to the student who makes the greatest contribution to the Trailblazer, SMC's student newspaper.

This award is given annually in honor of the first president of KSA, Rev. Thomas (Tommy) R. Bailey, to the member of Kappa Sigma Alpha who has exhibited outstanding service to humanity through their hours of community service through their dedication and accomplishment of the projects sponsored by KSA. The advisors select this student through careful reviewing of records of participation, hours of service and overall spirit as exhibited in the organization.

Given annually to a student who has shown excellence in Spanish by recommendation of the Spanish professor(s). The winner will have taken at least two Spanish courses, earning an A in each one. The student should have taken the highest level of Spanish being offered.

Given in memory of Samuel Haywood Poston of Spartanburg, SC, a 1951 graduate of Spartanburg Junior College, former chair and faithful member of the Alumni Council, this award is presented annually to a male student judged to be representative of the Christian qualities of compassion, forgiveness, justice, loving care of others and service to the community.

This award is given annually for academic achievement in psychology courses at SMC. Winners must have finished Psychology 101 (General Psychology) and Psychology 201 (Developmental Psychology) with a final course grade of A in both and display academic discipline, integrity and leadership.

This award is given annually to a member or officer of Psi Beta who displays sound leadership, maturity and responsibility, as well as commitment and dedication to the organization.

Given in memory of the late Senator Olin D. Johnston to the student regarded as having rendered the greatest contribution to SMC. The recipient was presented with the award at the annual Awards Ceremony, held April 11 in Gibbs Auditorium.

The Outstanding Drama Student Award is given to the student who has contributed the most to the drama program for four continuous semesters. Classes taken, grades made in these classes, outside of class participation and leadership in dramatic activities on and off campus, and attitude are all considered. The recipient was presented with the award at the annual Awards Ceremony, held April 11 in Gibbs Auditorium.

The Outstanding Pioneer Award is presented to a male and a female athlete for exhibiting excellence in academics, leadership, honesty, citizenship, responsibility and dedication.

The History Award is named in honor of Dr. Paul S. Lofton, Jr., longtime history professor at SMC. The award recognizes a student or students who have excellent performance in history classes at SMC. The recipient was presented with the award at the annual Awards Ceremony, held April 11 in Gibbs Auditorium.

This award is given annually for academic achievement in physics courses at SMC. Winners must have completed at least two semesters of physics classes or be currently enrolled in their second physics course. Winners are chosen from those with the highest grades in their physics coursework. Consideration is given to the following: acting as a tutor for the physics courses and providing in-class leadership.

The Pioneer Peer of the Year award is given to a Pioneer Peer(s) who exemplifies strong qualities of leadership, character and outstanding commitment to the Pioneer Peer program and to Spartanburg Methodist College as a whole. The recipient will have gone above and beyond the call of duty.
