Professor Kent Newberry, SMC Executive Director of Theater, is pleased to acknowledge the cast member of "The Mousetrap." Written by Agatha Christie, a novelist and playwright, "The Mousetrap" is a suspenseful murder mystery that keeps the audience guessing.

On March 20, 2019, Spartanburg Methodist College Director of Residence Life and Student Conduct, Ms. Trina Gilliam M.Ed., announced the resident assistant for the 2019-2020 academic year. Students are selected for their leadership skills and their reputation for being responsible.

On March 21, 2019, 15 Spartanburg Methodist College students were inducted into Phi Theta Kappa, a national scholastic honor society. Members of Phi Theta Kappa must have an overall GPA of 3.5 or higher with a minimum of 16 academic hours. They must also be of good moral character and possess recognized good qualities of citizenship.

On March 21, 2019, 23 Spartanburg Methodist College students were inducted into Psi Beta, a national psychology honor society. Psi Beta members must have an overall GPA of 3.25 and completion of 12 academic hours with a B average in Psychology 101 and/or Psychology 201. A high standard of personal behavior and integrity is required.

On March 21, 2019, 22 Spartanburg Methodist College students were inducted into Sigma Kappa Delta, a national English honor society. Membership in Sigma Kappa Delta requires an overall G.P.A. of 3.3 with a B average in a minimum of one college course in English or literature.

Vice President for Academic Affairs Joe Donofrio, D.C., A.C.P., is pleased to announce the students included on Sherman College's Dean's List for grades earned during the fall 2018 academic quarter. Dean's List students have achieved a grade point average of at least 3.5 for the quarter.

Six SMC students have been elected to office for Kappa Sigma Alpha service fraternity. These students will serve as president, vice president, secretary, public relations officer, projects director and member at large for the 2018-2019 school year. Kappa Sigma Alpha (KSA) is the co-ed service fraternity at Spartanburg Methodist College. KSA students perform hundreds of hours of community service each year. Membership is open to all currently enrolled students at SMC. KSA student service projects include Adopt-a-Hwy, bingo for residents in assisted-living facilities, playing with animal shelter pets, collecting shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child, assisting the Lion's Club and helping students at the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind experience the HALTER program

Two SMC students were elected to serve as president and vice president of the Student Government Association for the 2018-2019 school year. The other two officers and representatives for each class will be elected in September. The Student Government Association (SGA) is the main representative body for students at Spartanburg Methodist College. Students elected to an office serve a one-year term.

The Achievement in Athletics Award is given annually to graduating sophomores who have made significant contributions to the SMC community in the area of athletics. The recipients are given the award at the Awards Ceremony, which was held April 19 at Gibbs Auditorium.

The literary magazine advisor asks an independent juror to rate the work that is to be published in the magazine. These awards are given to the student(s) who produce the best short fiction (or creative non-fiction) for the literary magazine each year. The literary magazine advisor selects a small committee of faculty members to rate the pieces that are selected for inclusion in the Blue Granite Review literary magazine. The recipient is given the award at the Awards Ceremony, which was held April 19 at Gibbs Auditorium.
